my little theory

ha.. after varied discussions with my frens from time to time, i decided to consolidate my findings, or shld i say, my opinion of the "Shuai4" equation:

Shuai = Nice face + Nice built + Height + Talent + Character

Let's start with nice face.. nice face is what most people would also term, good-looking.. Well, for me, having a good looking face is half the battle won.. haha.. for first impression, at least..

Nice built, is wat i learnt from msN.. basically, not too fat, not too bony, not too muscular, but just nice and lean.. (Note the difference between lean and skinny)
But of course, I dun really mind skinny la.. msN has higher expectations.. But definitely NOT bony.. =)

and next, Height! Well.. I've always thought being tall was jus one shuai factor by itself.. Being tall will somehow just make someone shuai-er looking, and diminish any factor of not-so-fantastic looks.. i guess msP will agree with me on this..

Well this first part basically sums up the physical shuai factor.. definitely very important for a first impression.. but well, as i discovered, there are more things to make a person shuai.. and these intangible things are factors that will keep the person continue staying shuai in the LR..

Part one of intangible assets: Talent.
Let's just say a talented person will always leave a gd impression on us.. Talent can come in many ways: academic intelligence, witty humour, being gd in sports, and/or the arts.. the list is up to you..
Which also brings me to a point i saw on tv.. about (i can't remember the term, but it's something like) zhi2 ye4 mei4 li4.. something like that la.. direct translation meaning 'charm of the profession'. Basically wat im trying to say is that, a person who's gd at his work/job, will look v gd while doing his job..
The eg i saw on tv was abt this girl who went on a tour to korea.. and her ski instructor was jus so-so looking.. but it was when he started ski-ing, that his slick moves suddenly just made him look v shuai.. (maybe not suddenly la... but u get the drift..)
And i do suppose this eg extends to the other forms of talent, like a basketball player looks extremely gd while playing bball, a flautist exudes scholarly charm while making his music, ETC..
This talent thing may also come in handy in making a good first impression.. but mind you, the person's gotta be GOOD at what he does.. not some (direct translation) half pail of water..
Oh and before I go on to the last and final factor, may I add one more eg to 'talent'. I do think mental maturity fits into this list, cos this attribute is so lacking nowadays, it deserves to be called a talent..

And now we have, what i call, the Override button. The Character. Why override? Cos I think a great character totally makes up for whatever lack u may have in any of the previous sections. This i suppose, is the real subjective part which is the main reason why many couples in the world remain happy as they are, while conventional shuai-ges don't always end up big winners.

Character may also show up in the initial impression.. Take one of my previous experiences.. I was part of the backstage of this certain event, where there were 3 of us in this part, my girl fren, this guy, and I..
Amidst the chaotic situation when the event ended, I went to the washroom while I left my phone on the table.. (I thought, heck, no one's gonna steal it)
When I came back, the phone wasn't there anymore.. but before my brains could process the shock, Mr Nice Guy (ie the guy mentioned above) came along and took my phone out of his pocket and gave it to me.. Can't remember exactly what he said, but it was along the lines of, v chaotic, safer to keep it..
I was jus soooo touched la.. haha.. ok i do think it's these little actions that make me give full marks to a guy.. (or nearly full, haha)
That was a year ago I think.. But well as u can see, good first impressions are hard to forget.. (i do suppose i gotta say that this Nice guy scores pretty well in the looks department too la.. yah.. cos i guess an ugly freak mite actually make me think: "who ask u to kpo..")
haha.. which means that i shld modify the equation a little.. it shld now read:

Shuai = Looks x Built x Height x Talent x Character

Yeah.. a multiplication makes more sense.. Cos u really can't score zero in any factor..
And this basically sums up my little theory, and the continuation of my boring day...
