kungfu

well.. jus a crappy update..
if u read the title u mite think this is a review abt the stephen chow movie, kungfu hustle..
but well, it's not!
it's more like how i DIDNT get to watch the movie..
well..
on xmas eve, i went out with some relatives after the usual dinner party in a bid to catch this popular new film...
but well... it's a popular, and, new, film...
so i obviously din get the tickets.. ended up watching meet the fockers.. which wasn't too bad if not for the fact that there was this wave of bad breath that keeps err... waving in front of me.. and i highly suspect it's the woman beside me.. cos i was so irritated that i looked over to my right and there she was with her mouth half opened.. and she was like going.. haa... haa... basically breathing thru her mouth la.. i bet it's her.. and so thru out the movie i was jus totally leaning onto the left side of my chair, in total discomfort..
the only 'thank-goodness' thing was that her breath wasn't powerful enough to come over to the left side... or else i'll just die.. or maybe i shld have jus told her.. pls shut ur mouth.. ur breath stinks.. (oh but she was also sitting with this guy la.. or man or watever la.. they're kinda middle aged.. im kinda afraid that the guy will come n punch me if i insult his fat gf, and mind u... i'm not saying she's fat cos im irritated by her.. she really is..)
and so i went home after that with a tired neck...
the next day..
went for another xmas dinner at another aunt's house..
and decided to try again for kungfu..
this time we tried to be smart..
go online and book..
but guess what..
the STARS thing happened again..
i managed to find seats..
but when i clicked submit,
the thing hung..
database error or something...
and so we were stuck..
and bcos phone booking couldn't confirm seating,
we decided to go straight to the theatre instead..
well..
as usual,
kungfu was tooo popular..
sold out by the time we got there..
settled for ocean's twelve instead..
but bad seats..
2nd row..
nearly died of neck ache..
i brought my lil bro there..
at the end of the show, he was like:
i dunno what happened..
haha..
and so my new year resolution:
watch kungfu..
haha..

my little theory

ha.. after varied discussions with my frens from time to time, i decided to consolidate my findings, or shld i say, my opinion of the "Shuai4" equation:

Shuai = Nice face + Nice built + Height + Talent + Character

Let's start with nice face.. nice face is what most people would also term, good-looking.. Well, for me, having a good looking face is half the battle won.. haha.. for first impression, at least..

Nice built, is wat i learnt from msN.. basically, not too fat, not too bony, not too muscular, but just nice and lean.. (Note the difference between lean and skinny)
But of course, I dun really mind skinny la.. msN has higher expectations.. But definitely NOT bony.. =)

and next, Height! Well.. I've always thought being tall was jus one shuai factor by itself.. Being tall will somehow just make someone shuai-er looking, and diminish any factor of not-so-fantastic looks.. i guess msP will agree with me on this..

Well this first part basically sums up the physical shuai factor.. definitely very important for a first impression.. but well, as i discovered, there are more things to make a person shuai.. and these intangible things are factors that will keep the person continue staying shuai in the LR..

Part one of intangible assets: Talent.
Let's just say a talented person will always leave a gd impression on us.. Talent can come in many ways: academic intelligence, witty humour, being gd in sports, and/or the arts.. the list is up to you..
Which also brings me to a point i saw on tv.. about (i can't remember the term, but it's something like) zhi2 ye4 mei4 li4.. something like that la.. direct translation meaning 'charm of the profession'. Basically wat im trying to say is that, a person who's gd at his work/job, will look v gd while doing his job..
The eg i saw on tv was abt this girl who went on a tour to korea.. and her ski instructor was jus so-so looking.. but it was when he started ski-ing, that his slick moves suddenly just made him look v shuai.. (maybe not suddenly la... but u get the drift..)
And i do suppose this eg extends to the other forms of talent, like a basketball player looks extremely gd while playing bball, a flautist exudes scholarly charm while making his music, ETC..
This talent thing may also come in handy in making a good first impression.. but mind you, the person's gotta be GOOD at what he does.. not some (direct translation) half pail of water..
Oh and before I go on to the last and final factor, may I add one more eg to 'talent'. I do think mental maturity fits into this list, cos this attribute is so lacking nowadays, it deserves to be called a talent..

And now we have, what i call, the Override button. The Character. Why override? Cos I think a great character totally makes up for whatever lack u may have in any of the previous sections. This i suppose, is the real subjective part which is the main reason why many couples in the world remain happy as they are, while conventional shuai-ges don't always end up big winners.

Character may also show up in the initial impression.. Take one of my previous experiences.. I was part of the backstage of this certain event, where there were 3 of us in this part, my girl fren, this guy, and I..
Amidst the chaotic situation when the event ended, I went to the washroom while I left my phone on the table.. (I thought, heck, no one's gonna steal it)
When I came back, the phone wasn't there anymore.. but before my brains could process the shock, Mr Nice Guy (ie the guy mentioned above) came along and took my phone out of his pocket and gave it to me.. Can't remember exactly what he said, but it was along the lines of, v chaotic, safer to keep it..
I was jus soooo touched la.. haha.. ok i do think it's these little actions that make me give full marks to a guy.. (or nearly full, haha)
That was a year ago I think.. But well as u can see, good first impressions are hard to forget.. (i do suppose i gotta say that this Nice guy scores pretty well in the looks department too la.. yah.. cos i guess an ugly freak mite actually make me think: "who ask u to kpo..")
haha.. which means that i shld modify the equation a little.. it shld now read:

Shuai = Looks x Built x Height x Talent x Character

Yeah.. a multiplication makes more sense.. Cos u really can't score zero in any factor..
And this basically sums up my little theory, and the continuation of my boring day...

dance prac

ha.. this entry is specially for ms WK.. couldn't get u over the phone.. so here's the update..
well.. as i was saying.. today i was gonna teach my brother at tsc..
so we were at this corner of the foyer while i taught him the steps, while jinghan, lester, etc were practising with the music..
but after a few rounds they just decided to call chengyen over and do the stuff together.. so it was like everyone do the steps together slowly..
but of course it was lester and jinghan teaching.. while jingyuan and jinghui were at the back la.. me too.. and it was really quite sian cos gotta do the steps from the top.. and v slowly.. so jinghui got kinda restless..
so jingyuan was like asking me.. maybe i can go teach my bro or something la.. which i thot was fine.. cos my bro wat.. im responsible for him.. so i was telling lester, etc that i could teach cheng yen on my own.. but jinghan was like.. nevermind.. it's ok.. so ended up v funny la..
jingyuan, etc decided to practise the whole dance at one side, so i kinda joined them.. and so later on lester came to join us too.. so it was like.. all of us practising while jinghan was teaching my bro..
well i thot that was quite nice la.. they were quite patient with him and everything.. and so i jus left chengyen to him and prac-ed with the rest..
and so there was jingyuan, jinghui, lester and i.. practising together.. at first we were doing it in a circle.. cos we wanna synchronise the steps mah.. so the best way to see everyone is to do in a circle.. but it was damn hilarious la! cos ya know.. the part 2 (worm step), immediately before the chicken steps.. gotta kinda like step forward rite.. so we were moving forward in a circle and we all got v near each other la.. so we just kinda like burst out laughing..
and we did it a few times, but each time we couldn;t help but laugh..
so it was like jus damn funny la.. until we decided to jus stand in a line and do..
then later on kelly came.. oh yah.. shirley din join us today cos she was prac-ing with the bedok east ppl..

ok.. and thru out the dance prac there was actually this fat white cat lurking around la.. and later on when kelly came to prac with us, it din last v long cos the cat was kinda like approaching.. and kelly like jus suddenly stopped dancing.. apparently the cat kinda brushed thru her legs jus now.. so she's kinda scared that it'll do it again la.. and obviously when i saw the cat coming i jus went to like stand behind kelly..
which was really funny.. cos later on jingyuan was saying he got cat phobia too.. haha... damn funny la.. everyone scared of cats.. then jingyuan was like saying.. the whole practice interrupted by a cat..

and it was a Real interruption.. cos we couldnt dance while trying to avoid the cat.. so kwanghuat and xiaofa came along and tried to shoo the cat away la.. but they couldn't... the cat jus lai4 there and refused to move.. it's really funny cos everyone's like crowding around trying to get the cat to move away.. and ppl who passed by were like looking at us..

and well to cut it short, we decided that since KH and XF were 'taking care' of the cat, we could continue with our prac..

and we tried out the steps with a few different songs.. tried with 'perfect man'.. not bad man.. and it was damn funny cos perfect man was long enough we could repeat the whole sequence four times.. and it was so funny cos everytime we finished one sequence, i thot end liao, but they jus continued.. and i think im nuts la. cos im like the only one who's laffing and laffing and couldnt continue.. and they were like.. "ML!!"

and so it jus went on and on until past 930.. and everyone's like pally and everything.. so nice! Kelly was like saying.. "u dun look like u're 21, and u dun look like u drive.." haha...

dunno la.. but i was jus feeling v gd after the prac even though now i think my leg muscles are aching.. over-activity..

and they were saying something like jingwen's dance competition is some far east plaza thing or something.. dunno wat.. but im kinda interested to watch leh.. WK u go find out from him la.. then if we're free we can go...

okie i'm so looking forward to the next prac! =)

i must be damn stressed!

had a horrible dream yesternight..
well.. in my dream, i was dreaming.. (cutting the story short, here's the crux)

The dream in the dream
basically i dreamt that the results were out, and I got O, U and A for my subjects.. can't remember which is which, but basically O is like the A-level fail, and U was UNGRADED! that bad..
i was totally shocked..

and then i 'woke up' from that dream... realised oh.. it was jus a dream.. but the worst thing was... i think i was supposed to go check my results.. and so i went (after 'waking up' from the dream).. and i got another shock...

my 'dream' came true! (or shld i say nitemare)

Which means that i actually dreamt of lousy results twice..

The real world

and then of course i woke up after that.. not knowing whether i was still in my dream or not.. everything seemed so real.. and the only thing that made me remember that i have ACTUALLY woken up, and that the results thingy was just a dream, was that today is the 14th and results are not out yet!

but i was so afraid that my dream would come true.. it's really scary leh.. u know.. the part abt the dream coming true in my dream..
and so it might also come true now.. eek!

On a lighter note

my aunt taught my maid how to bake pineapple tarts.. in fact.. im eating them now while im writing this.. despite my cough..
which probably means that the cough is gonna worsen and im jus totally killing myself now..

ah well...

i jus hope i'll be happy on the 17th!
