hair
Whoa.. just realised that I haven’t blogged in AGES. Well, I haven’t been bringing my laptop home v much… and my 3 week stay at Ayer Rajah left me with no internet at work… and well I guess mainly it’s because I’ve been hooked onto Channel 8 9pm dramas recently.. no time to blog! First it was the lawyer show with Ivy Lee and Thomas Ong (woohoo), and now it’s the new show with Lin Xiangping and Fiona Xie.. Not bad really.. I think ch8 shows are improving!
Hmm so nothing much has happened in my life so far.. The only big change being that I went to rebond my hair on Saturday. It took me 5hrs I think. Apparently the cuticles of my hair are quite thick so it takes some time for the rebonding chemical to penetrate through the layers. Whatever. Trouble was, cos I cut my hair to shoulder length plus added lotsa layers, it started sticking out at the shoulders. Definitely undesirable!
And so I went back on Sunday to let them take a look at my hair… and all the response I got was.. why don’t u wait til u wash ur hair.. cos for rebonding you ain’t suppose to wash your hair til 2 days later. (Yes! 2 long days!)
So I waited till Monday when I washed it, and it still curled out. So I went back again this time, with my mom. Ha. The director guy attended to me personally.. Then just grabbed a pair of scissors and started snipping at my hair. Oh I forgot to mention that the layers weren’t v well done on Sat, I guess cos they were booming with customers they just umm.. tried to do it fast.
This guy was quite good! After the snipping, my hair just looked better, though the curling out problem was still existent.. So he promised to fix the rebonding for me, but I had to drop by another day cos they were like full for the day liao la..
And so I went by yesterday.
Oh I forgot to mention that my hair was done at this salon at Far East Plaza. Used to do it in Tampines (for years…) but my hairdresser has recently jumped ship to this salon. So I went along. And my mom called him up la, to complain about my hair, and he promised that he’ll do the fixing personally for me on Wed. (Cos though I booked him on Sat, he only cut my hair and the rebonding was done by the shampoo girl la). But surprise surprise, the director just came and did my hair for me! (He says he’s supposed to handle complaints..)
Anw we only redid the sides of my hair (which were the problem areas) cos additional rebonding will only damage my hair further la. In fact, the blonde parts of my hair (which were highlighted some time ago) have frizzed up at the ends.. Quite bad la, esp since rebonding is supposed to make ur hair SMOOTH.
What I was quite happy about was that they had pretty good attitude la. Like they wanted to ensure that I walk away with ‘happy hair’. I did the normal rebonding on Sat, and apparently they have a better grade of rebonding which costs more, but apparently damages the hair less la. So apparently that was what the guy used on the sides of my hair. (And I din have to pay more)
In between I had a short chat with the dir (cum hairstylist), and it was pretty comfortable. Cos I dun usually like talking to strangers, and I din start talking to my original hairstylist until I was in JC I think. (He cut my hair since I was in Sec2) What I liked was the fact that it didn’t feel like “I’m handling your hair now cos u complained”, but rather “I sincerely hope you’ll walk away with happy hair”. (‘Happy hair’ is a term coined by him la..)
At the end of the fixing, though my hair didn’t look significantly straighter, I did walk away happier though. I guess it was more of seeing that they have done their best to fix my hair, whether or not it could be fixed. And yup, I think I’ll recommend this place to ppl :)
Ok the most paiseh thing now is that I think this dir cuts hair better than my orig stylist la. So I think I’ll prob get him to cut my hair next time? But it’s gonna be so paiseh cos I’ll be like ‘boycotting’ my orig stylist. Sigh. But I guess I shan’t care. My hair more important!
- ok this seems like a nice place to end, but I’ve got more things to say! –
So I mentioned that I had a nice chat with the dir.. Found out that he’s 29 and getting married soon (or not so soon..) That’s not the point la.. point being I used to think I’d wanna find an other half that’s not more than 3 years my senior.. But a few encounters with these ‘older’ ppl made me feel that these ‘senior citizens’ are actually nicer to get along with. Maybe cos of their age/experiences, they come across as more mature, thinking individuals unlike my childish peers.
Yeah. So I gained a new perspective from my little episode yesterday. Gonna look at ppl in a new light today :)
